The Cuckoo's Nest

There is a thorn bush in oor kail yaird,
There is a thorn bush in oor kail yaird;
At the back o' thorn bush there stands a lad and lass
And they're busy, busy faring at the cuckoo's nest.

O, it' s Hi the cuckin, Ho the cuckin, Hi the cuckoo's nest,
O, it's Hi the cuckin, Ho the cuckin, Hi the cuckoo's nest,
I'll gie anybody a shillin' and a bottle o' the best,
That'll rumple up the feathers o' the cuckoo's nest.

It is thorned, it is prinkled, it is compassed all around,
It is thorned, it is prinkled and it isn't easy found;
O, she said, "Young man, you' re blundering."
I said, "It isna true!"
And I left her wi' the makings o' a young cuckoo.

kail yard - cabbage patch isna - isn't
