Twa 'n Twa (The Cuckoo's Nest)
Sung by John Strachan.
Recorded by Alan Lomax in Fyvie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, in 1950.
Twa'n twa'n made the bed, Twa'n twa'n laid doon togither. Fan the bed began to heat, The bin lay on abin the ither.
Spoken: And then there's anither a'f'y good verse, I think this:
Some like the lassies that's gie well dressed, An some like the lassies that's techt aboot the waist, But it's in among the blankets that I like best — To get a jolly rattle at the cuckoo's nest.
Spoken: It was always realistic with their verses and they were bloody clever often.
[Referring to the hired farm servants living at the farm and in the bothies.]
