Have You Not In A Chimney Seen
by ROBERT SMITH

Have you not in a chimney seen
A faggot that is moist and green
How it doth weep, and with its tears,
Sends its complaint unto our ears.
So fares it with a tender maid
When first upon her back she's laid.
But dry wood like the experienced dame.
Cracks and rejoices in the flame.
