Use Agreement for Archival Materials

As a patron of the Jack Horntip Collection, I hereby acknowledge that the materials in the Archives represent the traditional expressions of an ongoing culture and could be construed as sensitive. I agree to abide by all copyright laws as they are applicable to my work, including intellectual rights, privacy of individuals, corporate privacy rights and federal and state laws. I agree to abide by all donor and/or informant restrictions placed on the items that I request to use and I agree to list said restriction below. As well, I guarantee that the materials I obtain from the Jack Horntip Collection will be used in ways appropriate to the values of the community from which they originated and that they will not be misquoted, misused, or mishandled.

I agree to credit the field researcher who originally donated the material to the Collection, and/or I will protect the anonymity of donor in instances where prudence would require such protection. I realize the informant release forms were not always required for deposit of materials in the Jack Horntip Collection, and I therefore agree to protect the anonymity of the informant, thus I will not publish or reveal the name of informants in my work, unless a release form accompanies the item.

I agree not to deposit any items received from the Jack Horntip Collection into any other public collection or archive.

I will cite as a source the Jack Horntip Collection in all presentations, publications, including World Wide Web and successor technologies, of my work, and I will take full responsibility for the use of any materials I obtain from the Collection. In the event that the Archives materials are used in a publication I produce, I will provide the Jack Horntip Collection with at least one copy of the publication: The Jack Horntip Collection 710 N. Tucker W-6. Saint Louis, MO 63101.

By signing this document the Jack Horntip Collection is indemnified from any legal action resulting from the signees usage of the listed materials.
