Refrain |

Look to the hills, look to the skies,

And try to see the world though our eye* |

We awake in the morning to a cloud misled sky, To see the world with more than our eyes. An awerness with nature we feel then. And share this with campers again and again.

Refrain

Through adventure skills and nature hikes, Our goal is to guide other's lives. Through helping others we find ourselves, And learn to love our neighbors as well.

Refrain

So until the very end of our lives.

The knowledge we've gained will never die

We'll remember the friendships and promisses made

And in our hears they will always remain.

Around The World

Around the world we found girl scouts.

We traveled east, we traveled west

We searched the north and south

And as we searched we always found

Girl scouts are friends, they are sincere

And always honor bound

For loyalty and truth they strive

That joy and friendship, peace and love

Well always stay alive.

So sincere we can't converse around the universe l-et's all join hands around the world

Ash Grove

Down yonder, green valley where streamlets meander, Where twilight is fading, I pensively rove.

Or at the bright noontide in solitude wander Amid the dark shade of the lonely ash grave. 'Tis there where the blackbird is cheerfully singing, Each warbler enchants with his note from the trees.

Ah, then little think I of sorrow or sadness The ash grove entrancing spells beauty for me.

SCOUTING WAYS Hpw <^IRI_ SCOUTING BEGAN IN THE UNITFn fiy^jfrcx

Girl Scouting in the United States was started by a very unusual woman named Juliette Gordon Low. Juliette's nickname all her life was "Daisy". She was given this nickname shortly after her birth, when an uncle said, I bet she s going to be a daisyl"

Daisy was born in Savannah. Georgia, on October 31,1860. Daisy married William Low in 1886. and went to live with his family in England. On her wedding day, a guest threw soma rice at her for good luck, and some rice went into her ear. When a doctor tried to remove it. Daisy became totally deaf in that ear. Juliette Gordon Low was not one to be stopped by

a disability.

In May. 1911, Daisy went to a luncheon in England where she met Lord Robert Baden Powell, or "B.P." as he was called. He had started Boy Scouting in 1908, but at a rallv in England two years later, he found that girlsr too. were interested in becoming Scouts He asked his sister Agnes to help him start a Scout organization for girls.

When Baden-Powell visited Daisy in Scotland in August, 1911, she heard about the Scouting movement for girls and immediately organized a Scottish Girl Guide troop

When Daisy arrived in Savannah, she phoned her cousin, Nina Pape, and said, "Come riaht over! I've got something for the girls of Savannah, and all America, and all the world and we're going to start it tonight!" On March 12,1912,18 girls met at Daisy's house to form a Girl Guide troop. 1

Daisy changed the name of the American Girl Guides to Girl Scouts in 1913. For the rest of her life, Daisy traveled and shared her ideas and dreams with millions of girls everywhere

Juliette Low died in 1927, but the organization she founded lives and flourishes throughout the free world. - ' - ;

QUIET SIGN. This is a very big help in meetings and other gatherings. When the person in charge raises her right hand high, other people stop talking and raise their own right hands. When everybody does this, there is quiet.

The GIRL SCOUT MOTTO is "Be Prepared".

The GIRL SCOUT SLOGAN is "Do a good turn daily". y^^jS

FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE. Girls and leaders stand in a circle. Each one crosses her right arm over her left and clasps hands with her neighbors. Everyone is silent as a FRIENDSHIP SQUEEZE is passed.
