I. PI BETA PHI ANTHEM
Marie Winsor Stebbins, Mich., Beta

Pi Beta Phi to thee,

Our blest fraternity!

We wave thy colors brave on high

And fling them out across the sky.

Now we our voices raise

In anthems loud of praise;

Long let them ring

The while we sing

Of dear Pi Beta Phi.

When college days are o'er
Think of the joys of yore
And of our own fraternity.
Then greatly heartened shall you be.
Turn to your life anew,
Inspired by love so true,
Strengthened and cheered
By bonds endeared
In our Pi Beta Phi.

II. WELCOME SONG OF THE

HOSTESS CLUBS
Air: Something to Remember You By
New Jersey Alumnae Club

We'll give you something to remember us by
When these Convention days are over;
Something to show you what is meant by Pi Phi
No matter where you chance to go,
We are glad you're here,
Very glad you're here,

We shall do our best, all the while, trying to please you,
So you'll have something to remember us by
When these Convention days are o'er.

III. THREE LITTLE WORDS

Air: Three Little Words
New York Alumnae Club

Three little words!

Oh, what they mean to me,

Pi Beta Phi!

I hear those three little words,

They're all I live for, they are my pride,

And what I feel in my heart
I say sincerely,

No other words as these are half so dear to me,

Three little words,

Nine little letters which we all love,

Pi Beta Phi!

IV. ALTHOUGH KAPPAS ALWAYS FAVOR

Air: The Orange and the Black
Pennsylvania Alpha

Although Kappas always favor

The dark and silver blue
And the girls of Kappa Theta

To the black and gold are true,
We will own carnation slender,

And honor give them due,
While the arrow stands defender

Of the wine and silver blue.

Through the four short years of pleasure

In the "frat" we hold so dear,
As we won each new found treasure

In the fading of the year,
When we strove to live the better

And honors high to woo,
Still we worked for dear old Pi Phi

And the wine and silver blue.

When the cares of life o'ertake us,

Mingling fast our locks with grey,
Shall the love we feel for Pi Phi

Ever from us pass away?
No, we'll banish care and sadness,

As we think of friendships true,
And recall these days of gladness

'Neath the wine and silver blue.

V. SPEED THEE MY ARROW TRUE

Air: Ach Ist Es Moeglich Dann

Speed thee, my arrow, swift as the flying dove,
Haste thee to her afar: tell her my love.
Speed thee, my arrow true, my bonny white wing'd
dart,

Be thou my messenger straight to her heart,

Haste thee, my arrow, sleep on her gentle breast;
O, would I were with thee, there would I rest.
If she caress thee, dear, with kisses on thy stem
My lips on thy return shall gather them.

Out in the twilight, stood I so true and brave,
And 'neath the silent stars my promise gave.
I will be true to thee, my sweetheart, till I die,
I promised thee, my own Pi Beta Phi.

VI. MY PI PHI GIRL

My Pi Phi girl, I love you,

'Deed I do, my Pi Phi girl.

Your colors, wine and blue,

To thee we're loyal and we're true.

It seems to me you are the best

Of all fraternities;

For I love you—yes, indeed I do!

My Pi Phi girl, I love you.

VII. WHEN I WAS a FRESHMAN

Air: Carolina in the Morning

When I was a freshman I just hoped I'd get a bid to
be a Pi Phi;

When I was a pledge I feared that even then I'd

never be a Pi Phi;
For then I did discover things that I never knew:
Loyalty to each other, meaning of friendship true.
Initiation day arrived and then I really did become a

Pi Phi;

And now I spend a lot of time just being glad I really
am a Pi Phi.

It seems to me that any girl who knows what is right
Wouldn't let the wine and blue get out of her sight.
Make your troubles lighter and the world a whole lot
brighter—Be a Pi Phi.

VIII. I DON'T WANT A KAPPA KEY

Ruth Chase-Gutch, Iowa Beta

I don't want a Kappa Key (Kappa Key),
They don't make a hit with me (hit with me),
I don't want a Theta kite,
The wearers they don't strike me right;

The Delta Gammas I can't see.

Of all the "frats" that are on high (are on high)

There's only one that I can spy (I can spy).

The others may be mighty,

But when I get pledged for life

I'll be a Pi Phi.

IX. SWEETHEART SONG

Montana Alpha

There's a sweetheart so true to the Wine and the Blue,

He's the idol of all my dreams,

And the light that lies in his wonderful eyes,

Is the lovelight so fair bringing happiness there.

When the sun sinks to rest in the flaming West,

He appears before my eyes.

In my heart is the cry, I'll be true till I die

To the sweetheart of Pi Beta Phi.

X. PI BETA PHI SYMPHONY

Music by Violet Veerkamp, Missouri Gamma
Words by Abigail Williams Burton,
Illinois Epsilon

Whatsoever things are true,
Lovely, fair,
Beyond compare,
Pure as is your arrow's gold,
Sweet as wine carnations hold,
Honest, just, of worth untold—
These hold ye in honor due
Best to serve the name ye bear;
Wearers of the wine and blue,
Choose these in your hearts to wear,

XI. PLEDGE SONG
Elizabeth Myers, Indiana Alpha

One day I met someone who wore

An arrow made of gold;
From that time on I ne'er forgot

That pin nor what I was told.

Chorus:

Pi Beta Phi, I've always wanted to pledge my love to
you.

I love the things you stand for, your colors wine and
blue,

And if I live by Pi Phi ideals, an arrow may be mine
To show my love for all the time, to you, Pi Beta Phi.

And now I'm pledged to Pi Phi,

My dream really came true,
My hopes, my thoughts, my aims are one,

Since Pi Phi, I'm pledged to you.

XII. PEARLS OF PI BETA PHI
Music by Alice Denio, Vermont Alpha

Words by Christine Jones, Vermont Alpha

Our own fraternity, Pi Beta Phi,
We love thy standards high,
The wine and blue, and the gold arrow, too,
All pointing to the sky;
Thy bonds of friendship and of loyalty,
Will hold us true 'til we die;
Standards always fair, ever shine like jewels rare,
Pearls of Pi Beta Phi.

XIII. SERENADE SONG
Mayme Lyons, Iowa Beta

Moon is high, high in the skies
Shinin' down on Pi Phis,

We've sung songs of arrows gold, of colors wine and
blue,

We're loyal to our sisters, and we're proud to sing to
you.

But the moon way high, high in the skies,

Says, "Go home, you Pi Phis,"

So we're sayin', "Good-night," sayin', "Sleep tight,"

Sayin', "We'll come back again another night."

We've come to the end, we'll sing you our call,
It has a meaning tried and true, and now we'll say,
That's all."

Tra-la-la-la,

Tra-la-la-la,
Tra-la-la-la,
Pi Beta Phi

XIV. WHY DO I LOVE THE ARROW?
Marion Wilder, North Dakota Alpha

Why do I love the arrow ? What does it mean to me ?
Why should this shining emblem make me the happier
be?

Pure as is gold are the friendships that its tiny chain
has bound;

All things so true, all things fine, lovely, too,
These in Pi Phi I've found.

Why do I love two colors, wine red and silver blue?
Why should I e'er prefer them to every other hue
Since the first day I wore them for all the world to
see?

Sisterhood's tie, in our Pi Beta Phi,
That's what they mean to me.

XV. EVENING SERENADE

Air: Juanita
Michigan Alpha

Soft through the twilight

Fall the notes of Pi Phi song;
In gleaming starlight

See the Pi Phi throng.
'Neath the window stealing

Listen to the songs we sing,
Softly with the dreaming

Gentle slumbers bring.

Chorus:
Dreaming, lightly dreaming,

Do you hear our happy song?
Surging, sweetly surging,

Of our merry throng.

Moonlight above us,

Summer winds our steps attend;
Yet you'll never find us

Only summer friends;
Sing we softly, going,

Of our friendship pure and true;
Of our love unceasing

For the wine and blue.

Chorus:
Waking, gladly waking,

Listen to the songs we sing;
Singing, softly singing,

Gentle slumbers bring.

XVI. I MET A MAN SO CHARMING
Air: Wearing o' the Green
Pennsylvania Beta

I met a man so charming (as all Pi Phi men are) ;
And he was out a-riding in a big Pierce-Arrow car ;
He wore an Arrow collar, and he wore an Arrow shirt,
And if he'd been a lady he'd have worn a narrow skirt.

Now one day this man so charming went riding out
so far;

(Of course he was out riding in his big Pierce-Arrow
car) ;

And while he was out riding there came an awful rain;
Says he, "I'm glad I always have my arrow and my
chain."

Now, Pi Phi men so charming, take heed where're
you are,

Whene'er you go out riding in your big Pierce-Arrow
car;

Be sure to seek the arrow which always points
"Detour,"

Until you reach the Pi Phi house and find your true
amour.

XVII. THE PI PHI GOAT

Air: Solomon Levi
Illinois Beta

The Pi Phi girls have got a goat,

He isn't any kid,
He has a most tremendous throat,

And eats just what he's bid,
From old tin cans and shingle nails

To bread and cake and pie,
But he's an active member

Of our Pi Beta Phi.

Chorus:

Dear little goatie, tra la la la la la la,
Oh, little goatie, tra la la la la la la,

Our goat's a loyal Pi Phi,

He's trusted and he's true,
He never fails to pay his dues

And he wears the wine and blue;
He always tries to do his part

To help the cause along,
And for that very reason

We sing of him this song.

His hair is white and glossy, too,

His horns are long and sharp,
His voice is very musical

Like an Aeolian harp.
He helps us sing our Pi Phi songs,

For he's a Pi Phi true,
He wears an arrow shining bright,

And a bow of wine and blue.

XVIII. SMILE!

Air: 'Till We Meet Again

Massachusetts State Federation
Smile a while and give your face a rest,
Stand up straight and elevate your chest.
Raise your hands up to the sky
While you wag your head so slowly.
Turn around and limber up a bit
As you were and now before you sit
Reach right out to someone near,
Shake her hand and smile!
