ALLEGRO 3000 SERIES 12" LP's produced by ELI OBERSTEIN c. 1953-4

Allegro was originally started by Paul Puner to bring less-recorded works to the then-new LP market. He also licensed material from Oriole in the U. K. and Disco France. When the venture foundered in mid-1952, Eli Oberstein stepped in and merged it with his low-budget operations. At first Oberstein continued using the Allegro 3000 Galaxy series (later Allegro-Elite) which was accompanied by Allegro-Royale. The 12" Allegro catalog consists of re-releases of Puner's material and pirated tapes from German and Italian radio along with masters from the old Sonora, Majestic and Musicraft labels. All of this material was later sold to Pickwick International.

Thanks to Ray Wile for much of the information in this list. Any help with the remaining releases is welcome. Please contact ddiehlusa@netscape.net
